After Apple confirmed that Gemini would become the “brain” of the next-generation Siri, The Information, citing its own sources, reported that a range of new features could transform Siri from what is currently seen as a “clumsy” assistant into a truly intelligent collaborator.

First is enhanced world knowledge responses. Instead of merely listing web links, Siri will be able to answer real-world questions in a more natural, conversational manner, similar to an expert.

Second is creative storytelling. Siri may be able to compose and narrate stories on demand, marking a significant step forward in its language generation capabilities.

Third is emotional support. Powered by the Gemini model, the new Siri will be able to recognize and respond to emotionally driven or personal queries, offering mental and emotional support to users.

Fourth, Siri is expected to serve as a travel and work assistant, capable of handling more complex tasks such as booking flights and hotel rooms or planning itineraries.

Fifth, Apple’s virtual assistant may be able to automate note-taking, extracting information—such as a cooking recipe—from the web and automatically turning it into a complete document within the Notes app.

In addition, two other features are reportedly set to be announced at WWDC 2026 in early June and released alongside iOS 27 later in the year. These include conversation history memory, allowing Siri to remember past conversations and maintain context without users having to repeat information, and proactive suggestions, where Siri analyzes data from calendars, messages, and emails to offer suggestions before being asked—such as reminding users of a meeting based on a recently received email.

Apple has emphasized that all personal data will be processed either through its Private Cloud Compute system or directly on the device. This means Google provides the language model, but does not have direct access to iPhone users’ personal information.

The new generation of Siri is expected to debut in the iOS 26.4 beta in February, before being officially released to users in March.
