China dominates the humanoid robot market, accounting for more than 80% of the humanoid robots deployed globally in 2025.
According to data from market research firm Counterpoint Research, a total of 16,000 humanoid robots were installed worldwide in 2025, mainly for data collection and research purposes, as well as deployment in logistics, manufacturing, and the automotive sector. Shanghai-based AgiBot led the market with a 30.4% share, followed by Hangzhou-based Unitree with 26.4%.

Counterpoint noted that AgiBot’s diverse product lineup and open-source strategy have helped accelerate commercial deployment across multiple industries. Meanwhile, Unitree has drawn attention thanks to its expertise in motion control and dynamic balance.
The research firm forecasts that the humanoid robot market will exceed 100,000 units by 2027, a sixfold increase compared to 2025. Of these, applications in logistics, manufacturing, and the automotive industry are expected to account for 72% of total installations.
“Over the next two years, we will witness more companies commercializing humanoid robots. Mass production will surge, and robot performance will largely determine the pace of development across the entire industry,” Counterpoint predicted.
Meanwhile, Forbes cited figures from research firm Omdia released earlier this month, showing that 13,317 humanoid robots were shipped in 2025—around 3,000 fewer than Counterpoint’s estimate. Chinese companies still led the market, with AgiBot shipping 5,168 units, followed by Unitree (4,200), UBTech (1,000), Leju Robotics (500), Engine AI (400), and Fourier Intelligence (300). By contrast, U.S. companies were far more limited, with firms such as Figure AI and Tesla shipping only about 150 robots.
The year 2025 is widely regarded as a “showcase year” for humanoid robots. Most companies active in the field—such as Tesla, Unitree, AgiBot, and Boston Dynamics—have made notable progress, but largely at the level of demonstrating capabilities. Some robots have been tested in factories or appeared in real-world settings through pilot programs.
In 2026, ZDNet predicts that humanoid robots will begin appearing in households in the role of “robot butlers.” At the same time, physical AI may enter an accelerated growth phase. This term refers to AI systems that enable machines and devices to understand the physical world, perceive their surroundings, make decisions, and take actions—bringing benefits to industries that prioritize automation, adaptability, and safety.
In fact, there are already signs that 2026 could be the year humanoid robots move closer to everyday life. According to Gizmodo, at the CES 2026 consumer electronics show held in early January in Las Vegas, household-service humanoid robots capable of tasks such as doing laundry, folding clothes, and cleaning were widely showcased. However, many of these demonstrations were met with disappointment, as live presentations were frequently interrupted by technical issues.
